Leemed increase
in service where retire-
ment is on medical grounds.
18. (1)
Subject to paragraph (2), in the case of an
officer who retires from the public service under section
11(1)(h) of the Ordinance and whose period of qualifying
service under the Government is -
(a) not less than 5 nor more than 22 years; or
(b)
more than 22 years but whose pensionable service
is less than 22 years,
his pensionable service shall be deemed to be
(i) twice the actual period of his pensionable
service, subject to a maximum of 22 years; or
(ii)
the period of pensionable service that he would
have completed if he had served until attaining
the age of 60,
whichever is the lesser.
(2) Paragraph (1) shall apply in the case of an
officer who is re-appointed to service under the Government
irrespective of the length of qualifying service completed
during such re-appointment, but the deemed increase of
pensionable service under that paragraph shall be limited
as provided in section 20(8) and (9) of the Ordinance.
