Hong Kong are also pursuing a proposal to revise the general

provision under Section 16 of the Pensions Ordinance in the context

of the new pension scheme. The effect would be that only pensioners

who have ceased active duty for less than two years would be

required to seek prior permission to enter into employment or

business in Hong Kong. However the legislation would also provide

for the Governor to have authority to direct certain officers to

continue to seek such prior approval beyond the two year period if

the circumstances warranted.
