THE GUARDIANSHIP OF MINORS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1986
(No. 65 of 1986)

The main objects of this Ordinance are to amend the Guardianship of Minors Ordinance
(a) to make provision for a lump sum payment to be
awarded in addition to or instead of periodical payments (sections 3(b), 4(a), 5(a) and 6(a));
(b) to permit periodical payments to be made otherwise than weekly (sections 3(b), 4(a), 5(a) and 6);
(c) to provide that the Director of Social Welfare,
as well as either parent, may apply for an order for custody and maintenance of a minor (section 3(a));
(d) to make new provision relating to the power of the Court to discharge, vary or suspend an order made under the principal Ordinance (sections 2, 3(c), 4(b), 5(b) and 7).

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
