THE SEPARATION AND MAINTENANCE ORDERS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1986

(No. 63 of 1986)

This Ordinance amends the Separation and Maintenance Orders Ordinance for the following principal purposes

(a) to remove the financial limits on periodical

payments for the maintenance of a wife or the maintenance and education of a child (sections 3, 4(c), 5(b) and 6);

(b) to make provision for a lump sum payment to be

awarded in addition to or instead of such periodical payments (section 3(a) and (b));

(c) to make new provision relating to the power of

the District Court to discharge, vary or suspend an order made under the principal Ordinance (section 4(a) and (b)).

2.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
