THE PROTECTION OF WAGES ON INSOLVENCY (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1987

This Ordinance amends the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Ordinance -

to extend the protection afforded to employees by including wages in lieu of notice;

to provide that forms presently specified in the regulations shall now be in writing in a form approved by the Commissioner for Labour;

to clarify the priority to be given to payments out of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund as a debt in

—

(i) the distribution of the property of a

bankrupt; and

(ii) the winding up of a company; and

to make consequential amendments.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
