Mr. Joseph C.P. Tang, Acting Chief Planning Officer, visited the Shanghai Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China from 22 to 24 September to discuss matters relating to airport pavements.

Mr. W.C. Hutchings, Deputy Airport General Manager, and Mr. Alan T.C. LAM, Airport Manager, attended the International Civil Aviation Organization 5th Asia/Pacific Aviation Security Seminar in Kuala Lumpur from 17 August to 21 August.

Mr. Alan T.C. LAM, Airport Manager, attended a 2-week Aviation Security Course in United Kingdom from 22 June to 3 July.

N.P. Fok, Chief Electronics Engineer, visited the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority on 8 and 9 September for technical discussions on various telecommunications matters.

3. PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Public Relations Unit handled about 800 enquiries from local and overseas media and the public, and arranged 6 press interviews for various subject officers and co-ordinated press facilities on 38 occasions for VIPs and newsworthy persons at the airport. The enquiries focused mainly on the Airport Development Studies, the Stage V extension scheme, airport duty free shops operations, air services talks, civil aviation legislation and various operational problems in the Passenger Terminal Building.
