Special arrangements were made on 5 occasions in the restricted areas and 6 occasions in the public areas to facilitate press members report the arrival and departure of VIPs.

A total of 53 filming and 16 still photographic sessions took place in the Passenger Terminal Building and outside normal airport operational hours.

To familiarize airline staff with the Departure Baggage Handling System, 2 conducted tours were arranged for selected groups to see the vertical conveyors and sorting stations in operation.

A conical tipping device for use in the Stage V Departure Baggage Handling System was installed in September at an existing counter for performance trial.

V.I.P. Facilities & Public Relations

Special courtesy facilities were accorded to 754 groups of distinguished travellers. Consular Corps Permits were used on 676 occasions.

Tours of the airport were conducted for 39 different groups each comprising approximately 40 persons.

Airport (Traffic) Regulations Offences

A total of 202 traffic summons tickets (DCA 103) were issued to the owners of vehicles found committing offences under Hong Kong Airport (Traffic) Regulations.

Commercial Concessions

The tenancy of the Airport Staff Canteen was awarded to Ruby King Ltd. for an initial period of 5 years commencing on 16 November.

The tenancies for Retail Shops D905/D912 (Tobacco, Cigarettes and Confectionery) and that for Retail Shops D907/D908/D911 (Audio,

(Audio, Visual, Electrical and Photographic Equipment) at the West Landside Departures Hall were awarded to Yum Yum Trading Ltd. for a period of 3 years commencing on 25 September and 2 October respectively.

14.

A tender exercise was conducted for the banking facilities at Shop No. D902 in the West Landside Departures Hall for a period of 5 years commencing on or about 7 January 1988.
