Insert the following-

"Applica- tion of British Standard Code of Practice or Speci- fication.

3A. Save insofar as provision is made there- for in these regulations, every escalator and any machinery, mechanism, electrical installation or equipment connected or associated therewith shall be designed and installed or constructed, as the case may be, in accordance with the current relevant British Standard Code of Prac- tice or Specification and any other national stan- dard as may be approv- ed by the Building Authority.".

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Supervision Orders (Residen- Short title. tial Requirements) Ordinance 1987.

2.

The Prisons Ordinance is amended-

Amendment of

Prisons

(a) in section 2 by inserting after the definition of "disciplinary Ordinance.

offence" the following—

"hostel" means a building or portion of a building set aside

as a hostel under section 24B;";

(b) by inserting after section 24A the following

"Hostels.

24B. (1) The Secretary for Security may, by order published in the Gazette, provide for—

(a) any building or portion of a building to be set aside as a hostel for the purposes of this Ordinance;

(b) the discontinuance of the use of such building or

portion of a building as a hostel.

(2) A hostel shall be under the control of the Commissioner.
