A BILL

Amend the Road Traffic Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Road Traffic (Amendment) Short title. (No. 2) Ordinance 1987.

2. Section 42(3) of the principal Ordinance is amended—

Amendment of section 42.

(a) by deleting "the owner of a motor vehicle shall not permit the (Cap. 374.)

vehicle" and substituting the following-

"no person shall suffer or permit a motor vehicle"; and

(b) in the proviso, by deleting "the owner" wherever it occurs and

substituting in each case the following-

"the person charged”.

3. Section 75(5) of the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting Amendment of after "person" the following-

"or, where it appears from records maintained by the Commissioner of Police that such person has not been convicted of an offence under this Ordinance, a certificate to that effect".

The purpose of this Bill is to amend two provisions of the Road Traffic Ordinance.
