(6) There are photographic records of the placement of horizontal bara in various sample parts of the outer segmanta of the raft. The photographs confirm that, for these samples, bars
bare of all, types 156 aorrectly installed. Furthermore, quality control records also show sample checks at several stages and also confirm correct
correct apacing and locations. These samples include a 100% check of 3 layers of bars in one complete 90 degree outer segment (one of the four outer segments). In this
this case the 100% check covers the correct number. location and diameter of bars.
The photographe and QC records are
@quivalent to taking a complete "wedge" or
or "alice" of the first
first layer and re-confirming by two separate methods that 100% of the bars in the sample are installed in the correct locations.
(7) The raft is
outer layers circumference.
symmetrical structure where the reinforcement in the 18
pattern which ia repeated around the In addition to the quality control sample checks referred to in (6), there are records of further checks by JVC on the uniformity of the reinforcement patterns. These are 100% checks that pattern of all types of bar in all the outer segments is repeated consistantly all round the circumference.
In
the case of the non-conformance, a single error was systematically repeated around the periphery. Similarly, however,
however, for all other type a of bar ic is concluded that the correct
correct placing was systematically repeated.
The foregoing gives full confidence that, apart
from the non-conforming starter bars and the minor discrepancies noted in the vertical bars, the drawings were interpreted correctly and a high standard of installation achieved. The minor discrepancies in the vertical bars have been approved by the designer (in most
most cases they are additional bara) and it is concluded that, apart from the inclined starter bars, the first layer is fully acceptable.
These conclusions, as noted earlier, have bean reviewed and re-confirmed in two independent ways!
(1) An audit by JVC'a QA Department.
(2) A review by EdF and confirmation from Ed?'a senior management that JVC's intent to accept the first layer is entirely in accordance with the decision EdF
EdF would take under such circumstances for their own projects.
Consequently, JVC General Management is fully satisfied with the first layer as described here.
