COMPLAINTS ABOUT HM CUSTOMS

1.

Over the last year we have been made aware of a number of complaints from Dutch Nationals about their treatment by HM Customs when entering the UK. In particular the practice of strip searching has been criticized. We would find it useful, before reaching a view on whether or not to recommend taking this matter further with HM Customs or with the Home Office, to know if other departments are aware of similar complaints from any of their countries' nationals.
