Statement by the Acting Chief Secretary on the Scope of Government Audit-— Value for Money Studies in the Legislative Council on 19 November 1986

Sir, With regard to Mr. Allen LEE's earlier statement on the scope of government audit in Hong Kong, I am pleased to say that the Government supports the views and recommendations of the Public Accounts Committee as to the definition of the Director of Audit's duties, in relation to value for money studies; and notes that the Director of Audit considers that the boundaries of his remit in this respect, are now adequately defined.

Sir, I am grateful to Mr. LEE and all those who have worked so hard to resolve this matter.
