DENTISTS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT)

(ii) by deleting "provisions of sections 10 and 14, and shall be exempt from payment of fees in accordance with section 9" and substituting the following—

"payment of fees under section 9(2), and from section 10(3) and (5) and section 14";

(b) in subsection (2)—

(i) by deleting everything that occurs after "registered" and substituting the following

"dentists for the purpose of section 3, and sections 9, 10 and 14 shall not apply to such dentists unless they practise dentistry privately in Hong Kong."; and

(c) by inserting, after subsection (2), the following--

"(3) All persons on the full-time teaching staff of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong-

(a) shall, while in the discharge of their teaching duties or while performing hospital work in the Faculty of Dentistry, be deemed to be registered dentists for the purpose of section 3; and

(b) shall be exempt from the payment of fees under section 9(2), and from section 10(3) and (5) and section 14, unless they practise dentistry privately within Hong Kong.".

9. Section 31(2) of the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting, after "a registered dentist", the following

"or a person deemed to be a registered dentist".

10. The enactments specified in the first column of the Schedule are amended to the extent and in the manner specified in the second column thereof.

(a) in paragraph (1)(b) by deleting “or (ba)" and

substituting the following-

", (ba) or (c)"; and

(b) in paragraph (4)(c) by deleting “or (ba)" and

substituting the following—

", (ba) or (c)".

The Second Schedule is amended by inserting, before the last item, the following--

"Practising certificate for a person deemed to be a registered dentist under section 30(3)(a)

CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS

Amendment

Section 2(1) is amended by deleting the definition of "registered dentist" and substituting the following

""registered dentist" means—

(Cap. 156.)

(a) a dentist registered under the Dentists Registration Ordinance by reason of his holding the qualifications specified in section 8(1)(a), (b), (ba) or (c) of that Ordinance; or

(b) a person deemed to be a regis- tered dentist under the Dentists Registration Ordinance;".

Section 2 is amended in the definition of "registered dentist" by inserting, after "dentists register", the following-

"and a person deemed to be a registered dentist".
