11 start on Value for Money Study. This is in relationship with paragraph

67 71, Value for Money Studies conducted by the Finance Branch of
the Government Secretariat. Mr Poon, would you like to start questions.

Whilst noting the encouraging results
16 achieved up to April '86 arising from the Value for Money Studies 17. conducted by the Finance Branch, may the Committee be informed whether
18 there are further achievements to date in terms of reduction of staff
19 posts and savings realised.

Mr Chairman, I could run through the total of savings so far from the Value for Money Studies. On housing, mainly 23 with regard to squatter control, the number of staff saved was 324,

Customs
a value of HK$41.6 million. On transport, with regard to parking meters, number of staff saved 24, the value of HK$1.1 million. and Excise control points, number of staff saved 49 at a cost of 27 HK$4.6 million. Urban Services Department mechanised cleansing, 116
staff saved at a cost of, a total cost of HK$23 million including capital savings. Marine Department on launches, recurrent savings

of HK$4.2 million.
Police transport, police pounds, and vehicle

examination centres this is a combination of Police and Transport Department pounds and vehicle examination centres savings in capital of HK$65.5 million, by taking items out of the Public Works Programme 34 which had previously been in for future staff.
