1. Mr Long would be most grateful if appropriate briefing could reach 3M 015 by Friday, 29 May. Any general political background papers would be welcome but should not be specially written. In Hong Kong, Mr Long will discuss with the Governor and his staff how they see requirements for the JLG and longer term requirements after 1998, including accommodation. If POD need to make any particular points about individual staff matters they should be given separately from the standard brief.
