Liaison with Chinese over Hong Kong going well at all levels. Recently met Wu Xueqian in Bangkok and previously, as you know, in

Berne. Good understanding with him constructive dialogue on constitutional development in Hong Kong, and other issues.

International

Confidence remarkably good, but still fragile.

expressions of support always helpful. Strength of Hong Kong economy important in underpinning current optimistic mood in territory. Switzerland is important European economic partner.

Welcome conclusion of separate Hong Kong/Switzerland Air Services Agreement. Hope signature will take place in June as

planned.

Grateful for prompt Swiss welcome last December for new BN (0) status and passport that goes with it. Helped towards maintaining general confidence of Hong Kong people in their future.
