LORD GLENARTHUR'S VISIT TO HONG KONG:

INTERVIEWS WITH COI AND BBC EXTERNAL SERVICES

Mr Cooper, FED

Mr Millson, News Dept

1.

Lord Gienarthur has agreed to give brief interviews to correspondents from the COI and the BBC External Services before his

forthcoming visit to Hong Kong. Both interviews will be short

"scene-setters" for the visit. News Department have arranged for

both interviews to take place on the morning of Thursday 10

September, immediately after the Minister's second meeting with the

department to discuss his briefing for Hong Kong.

2.

I submit draft replies to the 6 questions submitted by COI,

and the 11 submitted by the BBC. (I gather that the BBC will ask

some, but not all, of the listed questions.) The drafts have been

cleared with the Hong Kong Government and our Embassy in Peking.
