Huangpu Port

At

Buangpu port, located at the mouth of Pearl River to the

East of Guangzhou, is 210 miles from Hong Kong. The

port has been in use

since 1936. Most of the existing

facilities and all the berths are, however, built after

1949.

which 10 are for vessels of up to 10,000 tonnes, 6 for

vessels of up to 20,000 tonnes and 2 large specialised berths for oil tankers, 2 for handling coal, 2 for

container vessels and the rest are smaller berths for

5.1.3 The new port is located 8 km to the south of the old

port. Its development began in 1973 and the first 5

berths had been in operation since 1975. The port was

fully completed in 1982. The total length of the water

frontage of the new port is 750 m with 10 berths capable.
