Duty Visit by Mr. SHAM Pak, Patrick Director of the Royal Observatory
Mr. Patrick SHAM Pak, Director of the Royal Observatory will be on duty visits to Geneva and London during the period from 2 May 87 to 2 June 87. In accordance with GR 763, I sulmit the following information concerning the visits for your onward transmission to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Geneva and the Hong Kong Government Office in London :

(1) Geneva: to attend the tenth session of the Congress of World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) (You may wish to refer to your letter Ref. (5) in ASIB/G/RO/05/1 dated 10.9.1986 to the Secretary-General, WO)
:
(ii) London to discuss with senior staff of the United Kingdom
Atomic Energy Authority (Harwell) on radiation monitoring and preparation of contingency plan in Hong Kong in dealing with the remote possibility of a nuclear accident at the Daya Bay Nuclear Tower Station.
(c) Whether the officer wishes accommodation to be arranged
Not necessary. Mr. Sham has already reserved a room at Epsom Hotel in Geneva.
(d) Whether the officer requires any facilities
Mr. Sham wishes that the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Geneva can provide transport to take him to the hotel upon his arrival at the airport in Geneva on 3 May 1987.
(e) Whether the officer wishes arrangements to be made for him to consult
any organization or government agency in the country to be visited
Mr. Sham will take the opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and the I.K. Mission during his stay in Geneva.
With a view to gathering more information on radiation monitoring system, a one-day visit to the Motor-Columbus Consulting Engineers Inc. in Baden, Switzerland is being organized for Mr. Sham by the Secretary for Economic Services. It is hoped that the H.K. Economic and Trade Office would make necessary arrangements to facilitate the visit.
