terms their respective policies and summarised the results of the recent general election. These visits generated a lot of interest and the group "grilled" the party spokesmen on a number of political and social issues. The question of devolution and the problems of long-term unemployment were discussed at length.

The group were unaccompanied on the final day of their tour which saw them travel to the West of Scotland. Their programme consisted of visits to Cumbernauld Development Corporation, the Scottish Development Agency, and the Burrell Collection.
CONCLUSION
This was a hard working and conscientious group who were genuinely interested in their chosen topics of local government administration and its relationship with central government. They were well received at all the appointments I attended and in return were most attentive and polite towards their hosts. Mr Lam, deputy commissioner, Hong Kong Government Office, London was hopeful that it might be possible for similar groups to visit Scotland in future, and I for one would have no objections to this.
