China

The Foreign Secretary has noted that a number of his colleagues have expressed interest in recent months in China. He therefore thought that the Prime Minister and other colleagues might be interested in the enclosed snapshot paper which sets out the progress made towards meeting our policy objectives towards China.

He is naturally anxious that our increasingly varied dealings with China should be properly coordinated. He therefore hopes that other departments will keep closely in touch with the FCO.

I am copying this letter to Private Secretaries to members of the Cabinet and to Sir Robert Armstrong's Private Secretary.

C D Powell Esq
