As requested in your minute of 5 June, I resubmit a
revised draft guest list.
2. 10 of the 20 places are taken up with FCO or Chinese Embassy places. For the remaining ten places, I have further strengthened the focus on cultural personalities who have had direct contacts with the Chinese over the
last two years.
Graham C Greene is not the novelist, but
Managing Director of Jonathan Cape: he led the first UK publishing delegation to China in 1978. As Chairman of GBCC, he has overseen a significant expansion in cultural
links with China.
