Mr. Xu Xiongxiong
Born in 1932, Jiangsu, China, Mr. Xu was graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University. He began his career as an interpreter. He served in the army first, and then in the diplomatic service until 1969. He became a professional photographer at the Culture Bureau in Hunan province. He came back to Beijing in 1978 and started working for China Central Television (CCT). He worked in the Education Department of CCTV as a producer and got promoted to an executive producer, to Deputy Head of the department, and to the present post of Head of the department.
Mr. Xu has been working successfully in the field of education by television in China, giving impetus to the development of education programmes on TV. duced the adapted version of BBC English programme FOLLOW ME, which has been a great promotion not only in the education by television, but also in the fields of the studies of foreign languages.
Mr. Xu is one of those who has been studying and endeavouring the most on the question of media for education in Chira. He has visited UK several times and is in good contact with people in the British TV.
Mrs. Yu Shilian
Graduated from Beijing Foreign Languages Institute in 1961, Mrs. Tu first worked in the former Chinese People's Committee for the Defence of World Peace and was later transferred in 1972 to the Chinese People's Association for Friend- ship with Foreign Countries where she served as deputy chief of the American Division, council member of the Association and now chief of the first division of its European Department.
