A BILL

To

Make provision with respect to units and standards of

measurement and weighing or measuring equipment used

for trade, to regulate trade transactions regarding

goods supplied by weight or measure including

pre-packed goods, and to provide for the administration

of this Ordinance, offences and the forfeiture of

weighing or measuring equipment and goods in the case

of certain contraventions; and for connected purposes.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title and

commencement.

PART I

PRELIMINARY

1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Weights

and Measures Ordinance 1987.

(2) This Ordinance shall come into operation on a day

to be appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette

and the Governor may appoint different days for different

provisions.
