Extract from Minutes of the 19th Meeting
of the Ambulance Services Review Steering Group held on Wednesday, 10 December 1986
Recommendation (i)
A ten minute travel time target, within which 95 percent of emergency incidents fall, should be adopted

The meeting agreed that the target time of 10 minutes should be adopted. In fact, this had been agreed by the Steering Group previously and was the premise on which the Consultants had relied all along.
Recommendation (ii)
An average of three new ambulance depots per year are developed over the next five or six years, as shown in Table 1. Approximately one third of these will be replacement sites, two thirds will be new sites. could be of non-standard design

As this recommendation was made to keep in line with Recommendation (i) above and the projects were all in the PWP, the meeting agreed to this second recommendation.
Recommendation (iii)
Outposting of ambulances at fire stations must continue if the target time is to be achieved, as detailed in the Report on Emergency Cover, until replaced by nearby depot development
