Reaction to the proposals made by the Financial Secretary in his Budget Speech has been relatively mild with the increases in the business registration fee, vehicle registration, licence and test fees and visa and travel docment fees generally being regarded as moderate and acceptable. The proposed tax concessions have been welcomed.

The various proposals have already received full publicity through the Budget Speech. A press release, including the legislative timetable, will be issued at the time of gazettal.

Members will be asked to advise whether
(a) the Business Registration (Amendment) Bill 1987,
(b)
the Road Traffic (Driving Licences Regulations and Registration and Licensing of Regulations) (Amendment) Bill 1987,
Vehicles
(c)
the Immigration (Amendment) Bill 1987,
(d) the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill 1987, and
(e) the Estate Duty (Amendment) Bill 1987
as annexed, should be introduced into the Legislative Council.
