The Council considered memoranda XCC(87)30.

The Council ADVISED and the Acting Governor ORDERED :

in principle, data

(a) that

protection

legislation

should be introduced;

(b) that the Working Group on

Data

Protection

should

conduct

а

further

examination

into

the

different types of data

protection

legislation

adopted and practised in

other countries with a view

to

assessing

their

applicability to Hong Kong

and make a further report to

the Council;

(c) that

representatives from

the private sector should be

invited to join the Working

Group;
