Explanatory Note

These regulations amend the provisions of the

Building (Administration) Regulations relating to

registration of authorized persons and structural

engineers, mainly to -

(a) include also local professional qualification and

experience as requirements for registration;

(b)

recognize for the purpose of registration

academic qualification obtained from institutions

other than universities;

(c) abolish the full examination for applicants.

without formal qualification;

(d) make professional interviews no longer mandatory.

Persons who have been included in the appropriate register

before 1 May 1987 will not be affected by these amendments.

These amendment regulations will come into

operation on 1 May 1987.
