Employees, and especially those involved in industrial processes which may make use of any of the substances listed in the Order, are likely to welcome the proposal as a measure designed to compensate them for any harmful effects of exposure. Employers are unlikely to oppose it as the financial implications are negligible.

A routine press release will be issued when the Order is gazetted.

Advice sought

Members will be asked to advise whether the Employees' Compensation Ordinance (Amendment of Second Schedule) Order 1987 should be made.
