Introduction

A Plan and scheme for the New Territories

Circular Road, Improvements project, Au Tau to Fan Kam Road

giving details of the proposed road works, land

requirements and requirements for other rights were

prepared in accordance with Section 5 of the Roads (Works,

Use and Compensation) Ordinance (hereinafter referred to

as "the Ordinance") and made available for public

inspection, and a notice (GN 3453) calling attention to

the plan and scheme was gazetted in accordance with

Section 8 of the Ordinance on 29 October 1982. Following

receipt of objections to the proposal, the Secretary for

Lands and Works had obtained authorization from the

Governor in Council for a modified plan and scheme which

were made available for public inspection and a notice (GN

3733) calling public attention to this was gazetted under

Section 11 (9) (d) of the Ordinance on 25 November 1983.

Owing to modification of the scheme, a section of

the route at Chuk Yuen Tsuen between Sheung San Wai and

Yau Mei San Tsuen was omitted from the scheme. Following

an engineering study, the route at the omitted section is

to be realigned further to the east of Castle Peak Road

and the plans and scheme have been prepared for the

construction of that section and is the subject of a

separate gazette notice.
