Midwives Registration (Amendment) Bill 1987
The Secretary for Health and Welfare moved the Second Reading of 'A Bill to amend the Midwives Registration Ordinance'.

I move that the Midwives Registration (Amendment) Bill
1987 be read the second time.

For the reasons which I explained in my speech on the
Medical Registration (Amendment) Bi11-1987 the Bill provides
for the Chairman of the Midwives Board of Hong Kong to be
elected by the members of the Board from amongst themselves.
The Nursing Director will replace the Director of Medical and
Health Services as a member of the Board. One lay member, and
a representative of the Chinese University of Hong Kong are also
added to the membership.
