Dentists Registration (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill,1987

The Secretary for Health and Welfare moved the Second Reading of 'A Bill to amend the Dentists Registration Ordinance.

He said:

I move that the Dentists Registration (Amendment)

(No.2) Bill 1987 be read the second time.

For the reasons explained in my speech on the Medical

Registration (Amendment) Bill 1987 this Bill provides for the

Chairman of the Dental Council of Hong Kong to be elected by

the Council's members from amongst themselves. The Director of

Medical and Health Services will be replaced as a member of the

l.c. Council by the consultant Dental Surgeon in charge of the

government dental service. The Bill also provides for the appointment by the Governor of one lay member of the Council.
