Mr. TAM

TAM (in Cantonese)

Sir, given that there are

inadequate

dumping sites, would the Government consider

the Government consider employing barges

to move these materials to the sea and dump them?

and Works

Sir, ::

we have three marine Secretary for Lands dumping sites in different places: one at Cheung Chau, one east of Nine Pin, and one at Mirs Bay; but suitable dumping sites are fairly rare commodities, and they are reserved for dredged

mud. If we were to use these sites for general dumping,

then they would be used up very much more quickly than would be

desirable, so I don't think that that one

sea

is likely to be an

answer.

I believe

that the

dumping sites

it might be

at

Ma On

Shan

are

not causing

albeit not

as as convenient

vast amount of environmental problems, or particularly, traffic

problems,

in

view of the number of times

per day and

the

direction in which the lorries go.
