like to know how long it will take for the natural regrowth of

native broad-leaved trees and shrubs to cover our hillside

again; and has Government got a transplantation programme

Secretary for District Administration : Sir, there have been a

number of measures taken by the Agriculture and Fisheries

Department. There is another species known as Slash Pine, an

introduced species, which has been extensively planted in the

1970s and this is very much more resistant to this pest. In

addition, as Members may have noticed in the countryside, there

has been a lot of plantation including eucalyptus acacia and

even the local
