Options of Changing the Composition of the

Legislative Council

to increase slightly the number of official members;

to reduce the number of

of Appointed Members (1.e. appointed by the Governor);

to increase the number of members elected by the functiona 1 constituencies (e.g. Commercial, Industrial, Labour, Teaching and Legal etc.);

to increase the number of members elected by the elected college (1.e. the electoral college which is made up of members of the District Boards, Urban Council and the Regional Council);

(5) to introduce a directly elected element in addition to the existing system of election, by means of either territory-wide or constitutency-based elections;

(6)

to replace the system of indirect elections from the electoral college geographical constituencies by a system of direct elections.
