What do you feel about the progress on the drafting of the
Basic Law?
This is, of course, the responsibility of the Chinese

at every stage. It seems to me that the progress that has been made so far is very satisfactory.

What is meant by "accountability"? Is there "accountability"

Daya Bay?
As Prime Minister told Exco members last year, HMG are fully
aware of their responsibilities for the welfare and well-being of the people of Hong Kong. They will be keeping
in close touch with the Chinese Government as the project
proceeds to make sure that Hong Kong concerns about the safety aspects are fully taken into account.
(If necessary) The British Government have said they are
satisfied, following their contacts with the Chinese
Government, that every effort will be made to ensure that the
construction, operation and management
operation and management of the Daya Bay plant
will be carried
to the highest possible safety
standards.
