The Cabinet Office have asked for proposals for legislation in 1988/89, ie between October/November 1988 and October/November 1989.

I would be grateful if bids by Departments for Bills in each of the four categories, Essential, Programme, Contingent, and Uncontroversial, set out in the form at Annex B, together with any bids for Private Member Handout Bills in the form at Annex C, pre- pared in consultation with their departmental Legal Adviser, could be sent to Legal Executive Section (Room W44/9) as soon as possible, but in any event not later that Friday 11 December 1987. Nil returns are required. The bids should include the name and telephone number of the official who will be responsible for the Bill. Notes for guidance on the completion of the forms are at Annex A, and a copy of the letter of 23 November from the Cabinet Office requesting bids and indicating the future time-table is at Annex D.
