Some of the court time lost and some of the inconvenience caused and costs thrown away could have been saved by better estimates of time and by better co-operation. The lawyers on both sides should get together in order to estimate length and give the listing officer their joint estimate in time for him to use it. Whether or not they do that the listing officer should make his own estimate. He should not rely solely on an estimate made by one side only. If he is in doubt he should seek the guidance of the presiding judge.
