Article 57
(1) This Convention shall not affect any conventions to which the Contracting
States are or will be parties and which, in relation to particular matters, govern jurisdiction or the recognition or enforcement of judgments.
Provisions which, in relation to particular patters, govern jurisdiction or the recognition or enforcement of judgments and which are or will be contained in acts of the Institutions of the European Communities or in the laws of the Member States of the European Communities harmonized in implementation of such acts, shall be treated in the same way as the conventions referred
to in (1).
(2) This Convention shall not prevent a court of a Contracting State which is
party to a convention referred to in paragraph 1 from assuming jurisdiction in accordance with that convention, even where the defendent is domiciled in a Contracting State which is not a party to that convention. The court hearing the action shall, in any event, apply Article 20 of this Convention.
(3) Judgements given in a Contracting State by a court in the exercice of
jurisdiction provided for in a convention referred to in paragraph 1 shall be recognized and enforced in the other Contracting States in accordance
with Title III of the Convention.
However, recognition or enforcement may be refused:
if
where the State addressed is not a member of the European Communities, the party against whom recognition or enforcement is requested is domiciled in a State, which is a party to the present Convention and which is not
a member of the European Communities,
where the State in which the judgment was given is not a member of the European Communities and the State addressed is a member of the European Communities, if the party against whom recognition or enforcement is requested is domiciled in any Member State of the European Communities,
