3. The Services as responsible employers want to be able to advise their employees on their position and that of their families and give guidance on their best course of action. Sime individuals currently employed as LEPS may seek to transfer to the regular British Army or RN. In cases of deficiencies in specific trades this may prove possible particularly for the RN, however, only individuals with existing rights of access to and residence in, the UK would be eligible and this will therefore depend on the clarification of nationality provisions.
I would be grateful if you could let me have your advice on these points by 28 November. I am copying this to the Hong Kong Department at the FCO.
