Mr David Alton, Mr Patrick Nichols, Mr Michael Colvin and Mr Dennis Skinner requested an early debate and statement on the implications of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Mr Biffen agreed that points could be made in a suitable Foreign Affairs debate and a forthcoming debate on the domestic nuclear programme.
Mr Tony Marlow requested confirmation that there will be no requirement for the House to agree the supplementary budget following the Fountainebleau agreement. Mr Biffen agreed to look at the point. The Treasury have been asked to lead.
Mr Nicholas Budgen requested a debate about the EC Finance Ministers meeting. Mr Biffen suggested alternative opportunities to raise the matter.
Mr Robert Parry requested a statement from the Prime Minister on democracy and human rights in South Korea. Mr Biffen agreed to refer the matter to the Prime Minister
Mr Greville Janner requested a debate or a statement on the matter concerning two British prisoners of war and allegations of Dr Kurt Waldheim's involvement. Mr Biffen agreed to consider the point.
The Lord Privy Seal is content not to have briefing on the subjects raised however he would be grateful to be kept informed of matters of substance concerning the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
