successful and prosperous than the Japanese. This says that much more effort must be made to help and develop a market in China and the position of Hong Kong and the arrangements you have made for the future put Britain in a very strong place to achieve this trade in the future.

I have quite a few Chinese friends in Hong Kong and I would like to put to you very strongly my feelings that we must do our best for the Hong Kong Chinese in regard to their citizenship in the future.
