and initialled, and the husband's name included on page 3 line four. Where the husband is also the holder of a Certificate of Identity, the wife's name should if possible be similarly included on line three of page 3 of the husband's Certificate of Identity. This amendment should be reported to the Chief Immigration Officer (Chinese Residents Section), Immigration Department 14th Fleer, International Building, Hong Kong in the form of a brief note.

Addition of Children

Names of children may be added only under the following circumstances:
If the child cannot obtain a passport of a country recognised by HMG
The child holds a legal birth certificate
If satisfactory proof of relationship is furnished to the Post
The child is under 16 years of age
Additions should be made on pages 4 and 5 of one or both of the parent's Certificate of Identity and initialled. The Post's authenticating stamp should be impressed under "Remarks" on page 4 after the words "Particulars of child added" and the date. Any such addition of children should be reported as for a change in marital status. All doubtful cases should be referred to Hong Kong.
Consular fees nos 17, 18, or 19, as appropriate, should be charged.
HONG KONG DOCUMENTS OF IDENTITY FOR VISA PURPOSES
The Government of Hong Kong issues Documents of Identity for Visa Purposes to the following categories of persons who have been resident in Hong Kong for less than seven years, whose stay is limited by the Hong Kong Immigration Department, and who are unable to obtain national passports:
(a)
immigrants from China.
(b)
illegal immigrants permitted to remain in Hong Kong
(c)
displaced persons from Indo-China

The document is in booklet form of the same size and general appearance as the green Hong Kong Certificate of Identity, but with a stiff brown cover. The document may contain either 44 or 92 pages. It is valid for a period of seven years from the date of issue and is good only for the holder's return to Hong Kong within the validity of the re-entry visa endorsed in it.

This document should not be renewed and should be cancelled if the holder has acquired citizenship of, or residence status in, any other territory, unless there is documentary evidence that the holder does not have a right to any form of travel document issued by his country of residence. Any doubtful cases should be referred to Hong Kong.

Amendments of particulars may be made under the same guidelines as those provided above for Hong Kong Certificate of Identity. Consular fee no. 17, 18 or 19, as appropriate, should be levied.
