In the President's opening address of the
Legislative Council on 8 October 1986, he stated that the
decisions on the major recommendations in the Broadcasting
Review Board's Report would be taken by the Government
before the end of this year. I am now able to inform this
Council of those decisions so far taken. The specific
topics I wish to mention today are:

The proposal to set up a Broadcasting
Authority;
The future structure of RTHK;
Secondly,
Thirdly,
Fourthly,
Fifthly, The corporate structure of
Tobacco advertising on TV and radio;
The renewal of TV licences;
broadcasting licensees and future
royalty payments, and lastly, Cable
television.
