In 1984 the Health & Welfare Branch established an Anti-Smoking Review Group comprising government officials, voluntary agencies representatives of the medical profession to review the working of the current anti-smoking measures recommendations for the future, taking into account the BRB's consideration of a future ban on tobacco advertising on television. In its final report the Anti-Smoking Review Group fully endorsed the BRB's recommendation for a total ban on tobacco advertising on television and radio, as part of a long term goal to
