A BILL

To

Control obscene, violent and indecent articles, establish a

tribunal to determine whether an article is obscene or

indecent, or whether matter publicly displayed is

indecent, and to classify articles as obscene,

indecent or neither, and for matters incidental

thereto.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title and

PART I

PRELIMINARY

1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Control

commencement. of Obscene, Violent and Indecent Articles Ordinance 1986.

Interpre-

tation.

(2) This Ordinance shall come into operation on a day

to be appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.
