Further to your letter of the 6th August 1986 concerning conditions in the camps in Hong Kong for Vietnamese refugees I wonder is there any development on the possibility of further releases from the camps.
I understand the situation and appreciate the desire of the Government to keep a close watch on the influx of refugees but I still believe that there is a need to give them some hope or else they will just go under. It adds to a rather tragic human situation and those of us who are well away from it may not fully appreciate it.

In addition, having opened up a way whereby some might be coming in to the United Kingdom, are we nearing the end of the input of the 500 or is there still some more to be brought in, and what is the possibility of the Ulster Committee which is concerned to be helpful in this situation to be given the opportunity of rehabilitating some? I understand that they have a scheme outlined and the secretary is Miss Nora Watters of 26 Woodland Park, Lambeg.
Yours sincerely,
Martin
