fit for travel upon departure and that they otherwise meet the medical conditions laid down by the authorities of immigration countries.

The office is currently charged with processing and departure arrangements for the ongoing Vietnamese refugee resettlement programmes for Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States; and it recently arranged for the movement of major groups of refugees to the Netherlands and Finland. It will also be playing an active part in the coordination of movements under the new, UNHCR-managed Rescue at Sea Resettlement Offers (RASRO) programme, under which a transit centre will be established in Hong Kong by the UNHCR and the Hong Kong Government.

The ICM office is also responsible for making movements of refugees possible from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Macau and China. In the case of China, this concerns mainly family reunion movements of Vietnamese who entered the country as refugees in 1979.

"INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION" ISSUE DEVOTED TO ICM'S 7TH SEMINAR

The first 1986 issue of ICM's quarterly "International Migration" (Vol. XXIV, No. 1) has just been published. It is entirely devoted to ICM's Seventh Seminar on the Economic and Social Aspects of Return Migration which was held in Geneva in December 1985.

This issue, consisting of over 370 pages, contains all statements, experts' papers, summaries of debates, and conclusions and recommendations from the Seminar. It also includes a list of all documents distributed, a list of participants, plus a bibliography on Economic and Social Aspects of Voluntary Return Migration.

CULTURAL ORIENTATION STAFF SEMINAR

The Cultural Orientation Coordinator of Migrant Training Services convened a three-day staff meeting in Geneva last month. The Site Coordinators from Austria, Germany and Italy, as well as the Language Training Coordinator from Yugoslavia, participated in sessions encompassing management problem solving, teacher training, evaluation tools and processes, programme development, materials development and current refugee concerns. Staff from ICM Headquarters and the U.S. Mission, involved in Eastern European refugee and Cultural Orientation programme concerns, met with the CO staff informally to share information and perspectives.

ICM PARTICIPATES IN SYMPOSIUM ON SOLAR ENERGY AND DEVELOPMENT IN PERU

At the invitation of the University of Trujillo, the Chief of Mission in Peru and ICM Integrated Experts participated as lecturers in a symposium on solar energy and perspectives for development in Peru. The Chief of Mission delivered a statement on ICM's role in support of higher education in Peru and also participated in a round table about research in Peru.
