Rescue at sea activity fell off in December (following the usual pattern) and is not expected to pick up again until April 1986. This is because of the risks of storms which make refugees avoid the sea during these months.

A list of the nine rescuing vessels is attached. Six of these fell within the RASRO scheme and one within DISERO.

During the three months under review, nine disembarkations of 439 rescued refugees took place. This compares with five disembarkations of 249 rescued refugees during the same months one year previously (see Annex 12 of the main Report).
The status of RASRO submissions for all RASRO vessels during the review quarter (as of 28 February 1986) is included in Annex 8 of the main Report.
