CAMP VISIT (1) 18TH OCTOBER 1985

Ban Nam Yao

(1,500 people)

Camp population is now down to around 1,500. Ockenden maintains its links there with the Hilltribes and markets products for them. There is a possibility that some 5,000 may be transferred in 1986 from Chiang Kham, the detention camp to the North, following the screening programme there, in which case opportunities for Ockenden will increase. Steve is well placed to cope with this.

Recommendation:-

That we retain our links with this camp whose activities may increase during 1986.
